Scottish Premier League (SPL) side Dundee United have confirmed that they have secured a four-year deal with American sportswear giant Nike.

Under the terms of the deal, the company will become United's official kit supplier from the start of next season, replacing current manufacturers Hummel.

The move will see United become the fourth SPL club to have their kits provided by Nike, joining Celtic, Aberdeen and Hamilton Academical.

Commenting on the news, Terrors chairman Stephen Thompson said: "We are delighted to secure this four-year deal with such a world-famous and quality brand as Nike.

"We are delighted to team up with [them], particularly going into our centenary season."

Thompson added that the Nike brand is "instantly recognisable worldwide" and represents a mark of quality in relation to its merchandise and the teams it supplies.

United are currently sitting in fifth place in the SPL on 43 points, behind Aberdeen on goal difference and third-placed Hearts by five points.
