Liverpool co-owner George Gillett has been pencilled in to speak at a major sports conference in the US this month, it was revealed this week.

The American businessman, who shares control at Anfield with countryman Tom Hicks, will turn out at Sportaccord 2009 in Denver between March 23rd and 27th.

Gillett will address the globalisation of the sports business at the event, which will also feature a presentation from Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber.

"Sportaccord 2009 is a very important platform for international sports organisations to communicate and cooperate in pushing forward the development of the international Olympic movement," said Xu Ruisheng, executive deputy secretary general of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee.

Other luminaries to speak at the conference are former tennis star Andre Agassi, CNN founder Ted Turner, NBC Universal Sports & Olympics chairman Dick Ebersol, former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue and NBA deputy commissioner Adam Silver.

Gillett is currently locked in a power struggle with Hicks at Anfield over disagreements about the future of the club.
