Port Vale have poured cold water on suggestions that Robbie Williams could be about to put more money into the club, BBC Radio Stoke reports today (February 16th).
The 35-year-old singer was spotted in the crowd at Griffin Park on Saturday as the Valiants, who are currently sitting 17th in League Two, went down 2-0 to leaders Brentford.
The appearance of the former Take That star prompted rumours of a new investment but chairman Bill Bratt has moved quickly to dismiss those suggestions.
"It's encouraging to see him, but there was nothing in it other than he wanted to watch the game," he told the news provider.
"He's got his life over in Los Angeles and I know he's got a house back in this country again, so I hope we see more of him."
Williams bought a stake in Vale in February 2006 and subsequently became a majority shareholder, acquiring £240,000 of the £250,000 worth of shares on offer.
Port Vale's record league goalscorer is Wilf Kirkham, who found the back of the net on 154 occasions between 1923 and 1933.
