Manchester City fans were given a major boost yesterday (February 10th) when it was confirmed that their season ticket prices for next year will be cut by seven per cent on average.

In addition to the reduction, the club's mega-rich owners have announced that fans will have an extra three months to pay for their tickets in light of the current economic climate.

The revelation means that the most expensive tickets at Eastlands will now come down from £538, while the club is also continuing its popular Live4City scheme, which will see 16 to 21-year-olds pay just £95 for the season.

Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: "Our seasoncard holders are the cornerstone of this club and, since our arriving at the club, we have listened to their feedback and their concerns on a great range of issues.

"By pushing back the date for seasoncard renewals we hope to make some small difference to the supporters who follow the team every week."

The Citizens also confirmed that every fan will have the recent 2.5 per cent VAT cut issued by the government passed on to them if they decide to renew their season tickets.

City have splashed out around £80 million on players since being taken over by the Abu Dhabi United group in September.
