Portsmouth executive chairman Peter Storrie has suggested that at least one more company has expressed its interest in buying the club, BBC Radio Solent reports today (February 4th).
A South African consortium was previously rumoured to be lining up a bid after Franco-Russian owner Sacha Gaydamak revealed that the club was up for sale in December.
Pompey denied those rumours, but now Storrie has confirmed that other suitors have come forward as Gaydamak seeks to sell up in order to focus on his other business interests.
Storrie told the radio station: " There have been one or two interested parties but there is a process they need to go through.
"I'm always hopeful but I can't say any more at the moment."
Gaydamak arrived at Fratton Park in 2006 and became co-owner alongside chairman Milan Mandaric, who he subsequently bought out for £32 million following a further £20 million investment in the club.
He was a key figure in the drive to move Pompey to a new 36,000-seater stadium overlooking Portsmouth Harbour.
