Football Technology and Stadia
Arsenal fans could soon be able to watch replays of goals or key decisions on their hand-held Sony PlayStation Portable devices, it was confirmed last week.
The Premier League club have been testing technology which would allow Gunners supporters to watch match action through wireless live streaming at the Emirates Stadium.
Eric Siereveld, director of retail, transport and venues for Sony Europe, explained in an interview with Reuters TV that the development is the next logical step for the state-of-the-art 60,000-seater ground.
He told the news provider: "This device will brings an extra dimension to the game with information and statistics.
"But we think that the next generation of the software that runs it could actually link fans during the game with each other."
Arsenal commercial director Adrian Ford added that the new technology could be in place for the start of the 2009-10 season, according to Reuters TV.
The Gunners have won English football's top division a total of 13 times.
