Celtic set to seal £25m deal with Nike

Scottish champions Celtic are on the verge of securing a new £25 million shirt sponsorship deal with sports giants Nike, according to reports on Tuesday (January 6th).

The Glasgow side are thought to have agreed a new five-year deal which is set to commence in July next year, taking their partnership with Nike to a total of ten years.

Although the small details of the deal are still to be thrashed out, it is believed that the Bhoys could ultimately pull in £29 million when bonus and sales royalty payments are taken into account.

The expected announcement - which follows six weeks of talks between the two parties - would represent a major coup for chief executive Peter Lawwell, who was recently targeted by Arsenal.

The previous partnership with Nike started in 2005 and was due to finish at the end of this season, but Celtic can now rest easy knowing that the money is in place for every campaign until 2015.

When Celtic won the European Cup in 1967, all of their players were born within a 30-mile radius of Celtic Park.
