Football Sponsors/ Sponsorship and Media
The Scottish Football League (SFL) has confirmed that it has extended its deal with Co-operative Insurance for the sponsorship of the Scottish League Cup.
The insurer has been sponsoring the competition - which was known until this year as the CIS Insurance Cup - since 1999 and the latest agreement takes the partnership to 2011.
Under the terms of the reported £2 million deal, Co-operative Insurance will benefit from related television and commercial income, while it also retains an option for a further extension.
Commenting on the news, SFL chief executive David Longmuir said: "We are delighted to be announcing this contract renewal, it is great news for Scottish football in general and the Scottish Football League in particular."
Longmuir added that the deal reflects "the importance of football in Scotland's culture" and its value to people from all over the country, regardless of their age or background.
In the semi-finals of this year's League Cup, Rangers will take on Falkirk and Celtic will play Dundee United, with both fixtures taking place at Hampden later this month.
