The new owner of Manchester City has come out on top of a new list of the richest people involved in British football, reports have confirmed today (January 7th).
Skeikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, 38, took over at Eastlands in September and his £15 billion fortune is expected to fund a major spending frenzy during the transfer window.
His position atop the list - which was compiled by FourFourTwo magazine - means that he has toppled Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, who is worth £7 billion, from the summit.
Indeed, the Russian has dropped to third place following Lakshmi Mittal - reported to be worth £12.5 billion - purchasing a 20 per cent stake in Championship side QPR.
The Loftus Road club also make up fifth place in the table in the shape of F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone and wife Slavica, who are thought to have a fortune of £2.4 billion.
Tottenham's Joe Lewis (£2.5 billion) comes in fourth place, while Arsenal shareholders Stan Kroenke (£2.245 billion) and Alisher Usmanov (£1.5 billion) take sixth and seventh respectively.
City have already splashed out £12 million to capture England left-back Wayne Bridge from Chelsea.
