The Football Association is joining together with the sport's other governing bodies to release a video which it hopes will help kick homophobia out of football stadiums, the Guardian has reported.
The Professional Footballers' Association, the players' union, pro-diversity group Kick It Out and gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell of Outrage! have teamed up to make the video which should be seen on TV, cinemas and at matches as early as March.
Stars such as Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Sol Campbell could be approached to take part.
The Justin Fashanu campaign has described the idea of the video as "fantastic". Fashanu became the first openly gay British footballer in 1990, long after a wonder goal he scored for Norwich helped him secure a multi-million pound transfer to Nottingham Forest.
He committed suicide in 1998 with a coroner speculating that prejudices could have been a factor in him taking his life.
