German car manufacturer Audi has agreed to sponsor Hertha Berlin until the end of the 2011-2012 season.
The firm revealed that it decided to extend its existing sponsorship deal with Hertha due to the Bundesliga club's "great sporting development" so far this season - they currently lie third in the league, four points adrift of leaders TSG Hoffenheim.
"As a premium manufacturer, it is important to us to cooperate with strong brands. That is why we decided to extend the commitment beyond the current season," explained Markus Siebrecht, Audi's director of sales and distribution for the eastern region.
The automaker will continue to supply Hertha with vehicles from two of its centres in the German capital, as well as maintaining a visible presence at the club's Olympic Stadium.
Dieter Hoeness, general manager at Hertha, commented: "Audi stands for sportiness and dynamism and is an outstanding partner for us to pursue our ambitious sporting goals."
Audi has partnership deals with several other European clubs, including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
