Cardoza issues ultimatum to council over Sixfields redevelopment

Northampton Town chairman David Cardoza has today (December 4th) issued an ultimatum to the local council over proposed plans to redevelop Sixfields.

The Cobblers have been attempting to make improvements to the land surrounding the ground for six years but are still waiting for the green light from Northampton Borough Council.

Now Cardoza has spoken out about the impasse, stating that progress must be made next week when the two parties meet or the future of the club could be at risk.

He said: "There is now no room left for further delays, no room left for warm words and yet no action. We either jointly achieve something historic or we admit to the failure.

"We are now, more than ever before, at a crossroads for the whole project and as a consequence for the future of the club."

Cardoza added that he and his father have ploughed £7 million into the plans to date and that he could not envisage the club becoming self-sufficient without the help of the council.

Sixfields, which has a capacity of 7,653, has been the Cobblers' home since moving from the County Ground in October 1994.
