Chelsea confirmed on Monday (December 1st) that they have resolved the bitter dispute with Norwegian side Lyn Oslo over the transfer of John Mikel Obi.
The Nigerian joined the Blues under controversial circumstances in June 2006 after Manchester United claimed that they had wrapped up a deal with Lyn in May 2005.
United agreed to cancel the option for a fee of £4 million and Chelsea also paid £12 million to Lyn to bring the tough-tackling midfielder to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea issued a high court claim against Mikel's former club and their ex-chief executive Morgan Andersen in October in an attempt to recoup some of the money spent on the transfer.
However, a statement on the club's website revealed that an out-of-court settlement has been reached.
It read: "Chelsea and FC Lyn Oslo have resolved all matters between the two clubs with regard to John Mikel Obi.
"The terms of the agreement will remain confidential. There will be no further comment."
Chelsea had claimed that they were launching the high court bid as they were misled during the transfer by the "fraudulent misrepresentation that Mikel had an employment contract with Lyn".
Andersen was given a one-year suspended jail sentence after being convicted of fraud and making false accusations.
Mikel has been an important part of Luiz Felipe Scolari's plans this year, filling the void created by Claude Makelele's departure to Paris St Germain in the summer.
