Lee Cattermole will be disciplined by Wigan Athletic after being involved in a public order offence outside a club in Middlesbrough, it has been confirmed today (November 17th).
The England Under-21 midfielder was arrested by local police and handed a fixed penalty ticket after an incident involving two other men on Saturday.
A spokesman for Cleveland Police confirmed: "Police in Stockton attended an incident outside a nightclub on Yarm High Street at approximately 23:40 on Saturday.
"Three local men, aged 20, 21 and 23 were arrested and subsequently issued with fixed penalty orders for disorder."
Cattermole, who was born in Stockton, joined Wigan from Middlesbrough in July after signing a three-year contract as part of a deal thought to be worth around £3.5 million.
A Wigan spokesman confirmed that the club will be taking the appropriate action, saying: "The club is investigating the incident and will deal with the matter internally."
Cattermole has made seven appearances for the England Under-21 side since making his debut in 2007.
