The Football Association of Wales (FAW) have admitted today (November 6th) that they are considering lowering ticket prices for international fixtures at the Millennium Stadium.
Recent World Cup qualifying clashes between the senior side and Azerbaijan and Liechtenstein have seen under 20,000 fans come through the turnstiles at the 74,500-seat arena.
Now the authorities are considering a return to cut-price ticket schemes - which they have used with great success in the past - for the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.
FAW boss David Collins said: "The board will undertake in discussing with the stakeholders [the ticket issue].
"It is a very difficult one, we are living in very difficult times, the credit crunch, people trying to pay mortgages, facing a recession."
Any changes will have to come in two years' time as they will not be implemented during the current World Cup qualifying schedule as ticket packages have already been sold.
But Collins added that he is hoping that the move could potentially take Wales "back to those heady days of 2003 when we were the best-supported side in Europe".
The Millennium Stadium is the third-largest sports ground in the UK, only trailing behind Twickenham (82,000) and the new Wembley Stadium (90,000).
