Football Sponsors/ Sponsorship and Media
Manchester United chief executive David Gill has expressed his confidence that securing lucrative sponsorship deals will not be a problem in the future, despite the credit crunch.
United's current shirt sponsor, American insurance firm AIG, was on the brink of collapse recently until the US government stepped in with an $85 billion rescue loan.
The partnership is worth around £19 million per year to United, but Gill is certain that a similar figure will be possible when the deal runs out at the end of next season.
He said: "Putting your name on the Manchester United real estate, which is our shirt, is very valuable.
"We think the value is very much there and we will be able to secure a new partner from 2010 onwards. There are still some very successful, profitable, growing companies around the world."
However, Gill has also confirmed that there are still funds outstanding from AIG and that other aspects of the partnership extend beyond the end of the shirt deal.
United's other sponsors include Saudi Telecom, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Budweiser and Swiss watchmaker Hublot.
