Non-league player tests positive for cocaine

Vauxhall Motors forward Paul Taylor could be looking at an extended ban from football after he failed a random drugs test, it was reported today (October 31st).

Taylor, 21, was recently on loan at Chester City, where he courted controversy after failing to show up for his side's trip to play Gillingham at Priestfield last weekend.

He was suspended after that incident but now Chester owner Stephen Vaughan has confirmed that Taylor tested positive for cocaine during his spell at the Deva Stadium.

He said: "Four players were randomly selected by the FA to undertake drugs tests on October 6th.

"Three of the players were negative but unfortunately Paul tested positive with traces of cocaine in his sample."

Vaughan also explained that Chester are now taking legal advice as they had previously agreed to make Taylor's transfer permanent in January in a move which would have netted Vauxhall Motors £30,000.

Taylor served his apprenticeship at Manchester City but joined the Motormen in 2007, scoring 17 goals for them in the Blue Square North last season.
