Juninho wants one more game at Riverside

Football Referees, Players, Managers and Media

Former Middlesbrough star Juninho has announced today (October 28th) that he wants to play at the Riverside for one final time to bid farewell to the club's fans.

The little Brazilian, 35, was hero-worshipped by the Boro faithful during his three spells with the club and was also named as their greatest-ever player in a recent fans' poll.

He is currently enjoying retirement in Sao Paulo after being released in April by Sydney FC following a brief spell in the A-League which was blighted by injury problems.

But now he has expressed his desire to have a last hurrah with the club with whom he won the Carling Cup in 2004 and for which he made 151 league appearances.

He said: "I hope the club can find a date for a friendly game. It could be next pre-season. Before I finish my career I would like to wear a Middlesbrough shirt again and play in front of the crowd.

"[The fans] are part of my family. I will never forget what they did for me. When I think of the good memories I think of all the supporters shouting my name."

Juninho also picked up 68 caps for Brazil during his career, scoring a total of 11 goals for the 'selecao'.
