David Beckham's loan move to Milan could be worth as much as £10 million to the Italian giants if it goes ahead, a top sports business expert has claimed.
The England star is on the verge of sealing a January switch to the San Siro in order to remain in national coach Fabio Capello's plans for the friendly with Spain next year.
But now Professor Simon Chadwick, founder and director of the Centre for the International Business of Sport at Coventry University, has explained that the move would be a two-way street, with Milan set to benefit spectacularly.
He said: "Brand Beckham is still a global phenomenon and even in these difficult economic times his star appeal in parts of the world such as the Middle East and Asia will see AC Milan netting up to £10 million, just for a short stay.
"Many of the world's finest footballers have represented the Rossoneri, but Beckham is in his own league when it comes to global impact."
Beckham will play his final match for LA Galaxy in the current Major League Soccer season on Sunday and the league does not resume until March.
He is itching for a loan move to Europe after Capello warned that he would not be considered for international squads if he is not playing competitive football.
