Dundee United chairman and Scottish football personality Eddie Thompson has died at the age of 67.
The Glaswegian businessman had been battling with prostrate cancer, despite refusing to stop attending games.
After rescuing the club from a loss-making situation, Mr Thompson helped turn the club around in his six years in charge.
He set up a supporters' trust, which is now the club's second largest shareholder, and passed over the reins to his son Stephen.
"Everyone at Dundee United is devastated by the loss of someone who was not only our chairman but also a very close and inspirational friend," read a statement on the club's website.
The tragic news comes just days after Mr Thompson's son-in law died in a road accident.
The weekend's game against Rangers has been postponed as a mark of respect.
