Norwich chief executive Neil Doncaster has refused to rule out rumours that the club is on the verge of a takeover by billionaire Peter Cullum.
Lifelong Canaries fan Cullum, who made his fortune through building his Towergate insurance empire, had a bid for the club rejected in June.
Doncaster would not be drawn on whether a new bid from Cullum is imminent, but he did confirm, however, that owners Delia Smith and Michael Wynn-Jones are considering their options.
He said: "They're looking for people to help or potentially to take over. They're in discussions with individuals but people should not be fooled by misleading headlines."
Doncaster also expressed his determination to ensure that the current board had a say in the viability of any potential offer and the future ownership of the club.
He added: "We've been linked in the press with a number of individuals, all of whom are wealthy in their own right, but we'll have those conversations.
"The board will make decisions about who we should be talking to and what those individuals can bring in, and they'll take a view about their suitability to be involved in the running of a great football club."
