Bitter Spurs chairman wants reforms after losing Berbatov and Keane against his will.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has hit out at the current transfer structure and has urged the Premier League to investigate possible alterations.

The north London club have been involved in a number of high-profile transfers this summer, but the departures of Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov have left the most bitter taste in Levy's mouth.

The Irishman pleaded with the club when boyhood heroes Liverpool came calling, while Berbatov finally completed his protracted transfer to Manchester United on Monday (September 1st).

Levy has been angered by the loss of arguably the two most decorated stars at the club, and claimed today that the situation is "further evidence of the need for the Premier League to review the system".

He continued: "This summer we found ourselves having to deal with the unexpected challenge of both our leading goalscorers making it clear they wished to leave the club.

"I have already stated my opinion on the manner in which our players were approached and the nature of the negotiations surrounding Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov.

"I have also previously said that we had no need to sell players on long contracts - this no longer remains practical."

Berbatov eventually moved to Old Trafford for a fee of £30.75 million, while Keane made a £20.9 million switch to Anfield in July.
