Tottenham boss Juande Ramos has hit out at the current transfer window system, claiming that it should be made shorter.
The window shut yesterday (September 2nd) amidst a flurry of activity, with one of the main headlines being Dimitar Berbatov finally clinching a move to Manchester United.
The transfer saga involving the Bulgarian has rumbled on all summer and Ramos has gone on record as saying it affected his team's preparations for the new season and the mood at the training ground.
But having seen Berbatov finally make the switch to Old Trafford, the Spaniard has called for all transfer activity to be finalised before the Premier League kicks off.
He said: "The league started on 16th August, but the window does not shut until 1st September.
"You play three games before it shuts while players are uncertain where they are going to be playing and team-mates are thinking which players will go and who will come in.
"That means they are not fully concentrated on their work. I would prefer it that, once the league has started, you don't have a player playing for one team one week and playing for another the next."
The window runs for the same duration in all the top leagues in Europe, although the Spanish, Italian and Dutch league seasons only recommenced last weekend.
