The new owner of Manchester City has claimed that he will have the same impact on the English game as Roman Abramovich.

Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim heads up the Abu Dhabi United Group, which sensationally clinched a £200 million takeover at Eastlands yesterday (September 1st) on a crazy final day of the transfer window.

He is believed to be at least ten times richer than Chelsea owner Abramovich - who has pumped over £500 million into the Blues since his arrival in 2003 - and has stated that he will not be afraid to splash out to make City a force at home and in Europe.

He said: "We would like to see Manchester City fighting for trophies in every tournament.

"We don't just want Manchester City to be challenging for trophies in England, but also in the Champions League.

"We want them to be in for every trophy available."

Dr Al-Fahim certainly made good on his promise on his very first day at the helm, smashing the British transfer record by paying £32.5 million to sign Real Madrid forward Robinho.
