Liverpool have commissioned a series of books relating to their fans on a worldwide basis.

The Merseysiders have supporters from all over the world and the new book takes an in-depth look into their Asian fan base.

The Asian Liverbird is published today (August 14th) and it was compiled over the last 18 months by Mohammed Bhana, a well acclaimed Asian journalist.

Mr Bhana has been supporting the side since 1986 and pitched his idea to the club back in 2007.

"I said I have an idea for a book that would help the club connect with this great fan base. I have a pure football mind and the club has given me a great deal of freedom and creative control," he told Asian News.

"I have interviewed the likes of Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, John Barnes, Alan Hansen, Mark Lawrenson, Sir Tom Finney, Amir Khan and many other big names."

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has also backed the project and said it was a way of "saluting" the club's Asian fans.
