Everton have confirmed that an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) will take place on September 3rd at 19:00.

The meeting follows a petition that was sent to the club regarding the plans for its new stadium in Kirkby.

The club had to validate the petitions on the list before calling the meeting but it has now established that the mandate of 20 per cent of shareholders has been reached.

Many fans are thought to be against the move to Kirkby as it would move the Toffees outside the borders of Liverpool and the meeting will come as a further blow to the board after the government decided to call in the plans for the new ground.

It will take 12 months for the public inquiry into the plans for the new stadium and EGM is likely to add further problems to the plans.

Despite the continued delays, the board remain committed to the plans to move to a new stadium in Kirkby.

The EGM will take place in the Alex Young Suite at Goodison Park.
