LTFC2020 take control of Luton

Luton Town Football Club 2020 have been confirmed as the new custodians of the football club after their application was approved.

The football league accepted their conditions of entry and they are now the official owners of the club meaning the team possesses a licence to play in League Two from the beginning of the season.

Luton will finish administration on July 31st 2008 and Gary Sweet, managing director of LTFC2020, said they were delighted to be able to begin the rebuilding of the club.

"The entire 2020 team have been working tirelessly since last autumn to save this great club and have shown to the football world that our blueprint to stabilise our club has the official rubber stamp of the footballing authorities."

He also paid tribute to the financial backers and publicly thanked their support but reserved the most praise for the supporters who have stuck with the club.

"This is just the start. We have proved to supporters our determination to put the heart back into our club. We now have a huge job on our hands, both on and off the pitch, to finally exercise the ghosts of the past," he said in a statement on the club's website.
