Rotherham United could be banned from the Football League if they cannot provide assurances over the financial stability of the club.
The Football League has asked Rotherham to meet with them to clear up issues that could affect their eligibility to play in the league.
One of the assurances the league is believed to be after is the timeframe that the club wish to play at the Don Valley stadium.
The letter, published on the Football League website, said: "We want to reduce the risk that the board may raise further points which might prevent the issuing of a final decision before the start of the new season."
This could mean that the club might have to look for a new stadium after leaving Millmoor in May.
The league authorities want a loan from the Football Foundation Stadia Improvement Fund to be approved before a move to Don Valley goes ahead.
Rotherham suffered a ten point penalty last season for going into administration.
