Members of the Sheffield Wednesday fans group Wednesdayite are calling on their members to vote in favour of selling their ten per cent shareholding to Geoff Sheard.
Mr Sheard made an offer to the group as he attempts to increase his shareholding in the club to reach the 30 per cent required to effectively take control of the club.
Former chairman Dave Allen has already agreed to sell his ten per cent and Geoff Huckley and Keith Addy both agreed to sell ten per cent stakes to Sheard.
Darly Keys, chairman of Wednesdayite, called on members to sell their shares.
He said it "was right to sell" to Mr Sheard but told BBC Radio Sheffield that the group would only sell if an agreement was in place with two of the other three major holders.
Reports from the Yorkshire Post indicate that this is now in place, meaning that the group could sell their portion of the club.
But according to Mr Keys, the question of whether to sell is an individual choice for each member.
"It will really come down to each individual to decide if the information level is adequate or not and then will vote accordingly," he explained.
A ballot will be held on August 6th to decide if members will sell.
