Fifa have three countries lined up as potential hosts of the 2010 World Cup, should South Africa's preparation for the tournament end in disaster.

The governing body are concerned about the infrastructure in South Africa, as well as having fears over security, transport and electricity outages.

South Africa has been gripped by 'load-shedding', which has cut electricity supply to various areas of the country at different times and it expects problems to continue in the coming years.

But Sepp Blatter, the president of the organisation, said that Fifa did have a plan should things go wrong.

"I have spoken to three possible, not only possible, but three associations and countries that would be able to stage the World Cup," he told Sky News.

He claims they would need just a single year to prepare.

Blatter has previously said that the tournament would only be taken away from South Africa in the circumstances of a "natural catastrophe".
