Clubs in the Scottish Football League (SFL) are set to vote on which club will replace Gretna in Division 3.

Spartans, Annan Athletic, Cove Rangers, Edinburgh City and Preston Athletic are all vying to fill the vacancy left by Gretna after the club went out of business.

The 29 clubs in the SFL are meeting at Hampden to hear presentations from the teams and to decide on which one they want.

Presentations were made this morning (Thursday) and there will be a question and answer session before lunch, with the voting set for the afternoon.

At this stage it is thought that Spartans may be favourites for a place in league football because they will move to a new stadium later in the year.

But Annan could also be favoured because of their facilities, the BBC reports.

The place in the league is up for grabs after Scottish Premier League team Gretna went out of business towards the end of last season.

Brooks Mileson the club's benefactor, suffered from ill-health and withdrew his funding sending the club into administration.

Ironically, Gretna gained their place in the Football League in 2002 when they took the slot made available by the fall of Airdrieonians.
