The Scottish Premier League (SPL) has announced a £125 million contract with Setanta Sports, the biggest TV deal in the history of Scottish football.

Setanta Sports will continue to screen live SPL matches until 2014 after a successful first season.

SPL executive chairman Lex Gold was delighted with the deal and said it would allow Scottish clubs to re-invest the money and make the Scottish game even stronger.

The current deal was worth £54.5 million but the new deal, which will still cover 60 games a season, will provide Scottish teams with a significant cash boost.

"No commercial deal comes close to matching what has been achieved today by the SPL and Setanta Sports for our game," Gold said.

Gold said he was looking forward to working with Setanta over the coming years and developing the SPL.

In addition to the coverage offered by Setanta, fans can also watch match highlights on the BBC on television and the internet.

BBC Radio Scotland and the BBC Sport website will provide live commentary from all SPL games.
