Fans across the world watching Germany's Euro 2008 semi-final triumph over Turkey had their viewing interrupted after a thunder storm disrupted transmission.
Live pictures going out across the globe were cut three times during the match in Switzerland, despite the fact that the storm was in Vienna.
An electrical storm in Vienna caused the blackout after it affected the International Broadcast Centre.
As a result, Uefa has decided to launch an investigation into the issue.
The governing body said it wanted to "evaluate the impact of the violent electrical storm over Vienna".
Supporters were also evacuated from a fan zone in central Vienna after heavy rain and high winds, combined with lightening caused concern.
Winds reaching 60mph forced authorities to evacuate fans and two people were hurt in the rush to leave the area, the BBC reported.
Bad weather has already threatened the tournament after a match between Turkey and Switzerland was played on a sodden pitch.
