Alistair Mackintosh has become the first victim of owner Thaksin Shinawatra's management reshuffle at Manchester City FC.

After working for the club through turbulent financial times over the past ten years, Mr Mackintosh has nevertheless left the club on good terms.

Leaving only eight days after the arrival of executive chairman Gary Cook, Mr Mackintosh had also failed to persuade Mr Shinawatra to keep Sven-Goran Eriksson as manager, a move that would not have done much to win favour with owner Mr Shinawatra.

Remarking on the former chief executive's exit, Mr Cook said: "I would like to thank Alistair for his decade of service to the club. He took us through a period of great change and progress."

Alistair Mackintosh has previously worked for IBM, Price Waterhouse and Shell as a highly respected accountant and upon taking the Man City job he became the Premier League's youngest chief executive.

It is now strongly believed he will be heading to Fulham to become managing director since the club are looking for a replacement following David Mcnally's departure a little over one week ago.
