West Bromwich Albion chairman Jeremy Peace has announced he would sell his 51 per cent stake in the club if it would get the team to the Premiership.
It is no secret to Mr Peace that West Bromwich Albion need funding, and there are a few options open to the chairman at present.
One of the options is to sell the club, reported to be worth between £25 and £50 million due in part to the grounds they hold.
And selling now could be the catalyst for more cash in the future, as income would be more reliable if the club were to reach the Premiership next season.
The news comes however just as Sir David Richards, chairman of the Premier League, has announced his desire for a smaller, 18-club Premiership to help deal with the large influx of foreign players that is said to be responsible for England's no-show at Euro 2008.
So far Graeme Souness, together with both multi-millionaire Brian Kennedy and Virgin boss Richard Branson, have been touted as buyers.
