Manchester United have lodged a formal complaint with Fifa against Spanish team Real Madrid, following its wooing of Man United player Christiano Ronaldo.
Real Madrid is said to have been contacting the player persistently, despite warnings from Manchester United that the Premier League team would take Real to the world governing body if it did not stop making such advances.
Manchester United appear to be fighting hard to protect the investment they made in Christiano Ronaldo when they paid £12.24 million for the right-winger.
In a statement made to the press, Manchester United explained: "On 27 May, United made clear its intention to report Real Madrid if it continued to involve itself in the future of Ronaldo.
"Unfortunately, Real Madrid has not kept its own counsel
The club feels it has no alternative but to make a formal complaint to the world governing body, which it has done today."
The news comes just as rival team Manchester City has announced it's hopes to sign Brazilian player Jo for £20 million, highlighting the vast amount of money currently circulating during transfer season.
Originally signed to Manchester United for £12.24 million, Ronaldo has talked about his desire to move to Real Madrid in the past, although with only three years under his belt at Old Trafford a move now would mean it was a costly decision to invest in the Portuguese player.
