England might not be appearing in the tournament, but that won't stop English fans from enjoying Euro 2008, a new poll has revealed.
A survey conducted by The Football Fans Census for Nuts TV shows that many fans still have a vested interest in the tournament despite their country's non-attendance.
Largely, it appears that fans' new-found country allegiances are based on club ties, with players such as Cesc Fabregas, Christiano Ronaldo and Fernando Torres foremost in many supporters' minds.
However, it appears that the UK is united for one common cause - to cheer on opponents of Germany.
Around 31 per cent of the England fans canvassed by The Football Fans Census are hoping the Germans do badly this summer, with many Welsh and Northern Irish fans found to be similarly motivated.
English supporters are also praying for an early France exit, although Scots are more intent on expressing anti-Italian sentiment after the Azzurri qualified for the tournament at their expense.
Importantly, fans also voted on their European preferences off the pitch.
A third of football fans (33 per cent) believe the Swedes have the best looking supporters, 21 per cent say it is the French and 14 per cent side with the Dutch.
