Promoted Premier League newcomers Stoke City have no plans to build new stands in the corners of the Britannia Stadium.
Chief executive Tony Scholes told BBC Radio Stoke: "We want to get people used to the ground being full.
"If we sell out every game next year then there's every reason to look at expanding."
The chances of the 28,000 capacity being increased could well be improved by some 'research' the club has been doing.
Scholes, stressing his determination that the Potters won't become yet another yo-yo club or one-season Premiership wonder, admitted: "We've spoken to Bolton and Reading, we wouldn't be doing our jobs properly if we weren't doing the research.
"We don't want to just copy another club's model but it is right to learn from the clubs that have gone up, stayed up and then done well."
The Britannia Stadium has not been privy to Premier League football as Stoke only moved there from the Victoria Ground in 1997.
Stoke were last in the top flight 23 years ago.
