Bristol Rovers have had plans for a new stadium accepted by city council planning officers.
Initially the club was given permission to build an 18,500-seater stadium but a decision was made to scale down.
In addition, other changes were made, including the reduction in size of an IT training centre, changes to the restaurant and the combining of the restaurant and conference room.
The alterations meant that the plans had to be resubmitted to council officials but the new design has now been given the go ahead.
"These changes are considered and are not significant within the scope of the project," read a club statement.
"The enabling developments provide finance to secure the delivery of the redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium and the viability of the proposal was rigorously assessed to ensure that the project was not a 'profit driven' exercise," it continued.
Rovers have played at the Memorial Stadium since 1996 and are still looking into where they will play matches while the new stadium is being built.
