It has been suggested that Cardiff City may be given a wildcard into Europe if they win the FA Cup.
The Bluebirds progressed to the final of the cup after beating Barnsley at the weekend and now need to overcome Portsmouth in the final.
However, if they win they are unlikely to be given a European place as the current rules stipulate that Welsh teams can only qualify for Europe through Welsh competitions.
But Uefa spokesman William Gaillard told the BBC that the possibility of a wildcard is being discussed.
"Our president has asked the executive committee to look at the possibility of a wildcard," he commented.
Uefa president Michel Platini has previously expressed his desire to see Cardiff in Europe if they win the cup.
"From our point of view it would be sad if they win the FA Cup and cannot compete in Europe," he said.
"So we will be suggesting this to the executive committee. There is a lot of sympathy for Cardiff and I would expect it to go their way," added Platini.
Joe Ledley was the hero for Cardiff on Sunday when he scored the winner against Barnsley.
