New shirt sponsor for QPR

Queen's Park Rangers, supposedly the richest football club in the world, have signed a new shirt sponsorship deal with Lotto Sport Italia.

QPR is owned in part by Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone, Italian businessman and managing director of the Renault Formula One team Flavio Briatore, and steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal - the world's fifth-richest man.

However, this doesn't mean that the club isn't keen to maximise its earnings potential, and the deal with Lotto Sport Italia is the most lucrative in QPR's history.

The five-year contract is worth a potential £20 million, although this figure is dependent on success.

"Lotto Sport Italia is the perfect fit as our new kit supplier. I am certain that their involvement will benefit us on and off the pitch," Briatore, the Hoops' chairman, said.

"I am delighted with the design of the new team strip, which maintains the QPR tradition of blue and white hoops. I know how important it is to the fans that the hoops remain," he added.
