Gretna go into administration

Scottish Premier League (SPL) outfit Gretna have begun formal proceedings to go into administration.

The struggling side had been making noises last week which suggested that administration was on the cards.

However, it appears now that those fears have become a reality and the side's SPL status now looks increasingly bleak.

Players' union chief executive Fraser Wishart told the BBC: "The players are in good spirits but they are in limbo.

"The players don't want their futures played out in the press, they are looking for clarity and they had a barrage of questions for me.

"I'm guessing that there will be casualties but we hope that they are kept to a minimum," he continued.

Gretna are currently bottom of the SPL, nine points from safety, and look set to receive a ten-point deduction as a consequence of going into administration.
