DIC in advanced talks with Liverpool

Dubai International Capital (DIC) claims that it is in advanced talks about buying a stake in Liverpool.

The investment agency has revealed that talks have progressed with Liverpool co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

It comes just over a year after the American duo bought the club for £218.9 million.

Further to this, Hicks has repeatedly said that he has no intention of selling his share in the club and has the right to first refusal on Gillett's share.

However, DIC is said to be prepared to "accept a 49 per cent shareholding in Liverpool FC".

"Dubai International Capital confirms that it is in advanced discussions with the co-owners of Liverpool Football Club," read a statement from the agency.

"But no agreement has been reached on price or shareholding percentage," it continued.

Liverpool fans may be pleased that the whole saga may be about to end, with captain Steven Gerrard recently admitting that it has affected the Liverpool players.
