Ticket touting investigation leads to arrest

Police have arrested a man in connection with an investigation into ticket touting at Premier League football matches.

Officers seized the 32-year-old at Old Trafford during Manchester United's Champions League tie with Lyon.

The man, from Blackburn, was held on suspicion of ticket touting, money laundering and fraud.

As part of the investigation, a number of homes in Blackburn were searched and the Premier League has admitted that ticket touting is a growing problem in the English game.

"Ticket touting is being done on a more corporate level and we need the continued support of the government and the authorities in order to deal with it," a spokesman from the League told the BBC.

"The Premier League and their member clubs work very closely with the relevant authorities to ensure that ticket touts are targeted and dealt with."

The investigation into ticket touting began in October and was funded by the UK policing unit, which is working alongside the Football Association and the Premier League.
