Sportswear giant Nike has signed a contract with the French Football Federation (FFF) to supply the national team kits from 2011 through to the 2017-18 season.
Nike triumphed over rival adidas in the bidding process and will pay 320 million over the seven-and-a-half-year contract on top of the 2.5 million yearly cost of supplying the actual kit and equipment, the federation said on its website.
According to federation president Jean-Pierre Escalettes, money had been the deciding factor as the actual proposals of the two companies had been remarkably similar.
"It's the financial aspect that made the difference," he said.
"I had neither the moral nor legal capacity to take any other decision."
Adidas has supplied the FFF since 1972, while Nike already provides kit for the Brazilian and US national teams, as well as club sides Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona.
