Birmingham City are in talks with the City Council over plans to build a new stadium.
The club has confirmed that discussions have begun, which would see Birmingham move away from their famous St Andrews stadium.
According to officials, the new ground would be built in Saltley, close to their current home, with some external finances being used.
Birmingham City would be prepared to stump up £20 million for the project and would seek further funding from elsewhere.
Karen Brady, managing director of the club, revealed that the board is keen to receive funding from elsewhere in order to protect the future of the Premier League outfit.
"We are in the process of appointing a master planner," she said.
"We have to have auxiliaries in place as we don't want to bankrupt the club," continued Ms Brady.
Birmingham City are currently languishing one place above the relegation zone in the Premier League on goal difference.
