Rotherham face administration

Rotherham are close to administration for the second time in as many years.

The club has revealed that unless it receives a significant cash injection soon it will go under.

Officials have filed a notice to appoint an administrator and could be docked ten points if they are not rescued.

This would seriously dent the club's promotion hopes as they are currently sitting just five points off an automatic promotion spot out of League Two.

A statement from the club read: "It is plain that things can not continue like this and that time is not on our side. We are not yet at a stage where a certain future for the club can be definitively guaranteed.

"We are conscious of the need to protect the club from any possible action from any of its creditors. In order to combat this, we have filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator.

"If no deal can be brokered then administration would be the only option for the club," it continued.

If Rotherham do go into administration they will follow Bournemouth and Luton of League Two.
