Bournemouth have been docked ten points by the Football League after going into administration.
According to the club's administrator Gerald Krasner, if chairman Jeff Mostyn had not baled the Cherries out with a reported six-figure sum Bournemouth "wouldn't have made it past Sunday".
As it is, Mr Mostyn has heralded a new dawn for the League One side, who are now stranded at the foot of the table 11 points from safety.
"Administration is not the end of the club. It's the start of a bright new future," he told the Cherries' website.
Bournemouth are the second League One side to have gone into administration this season, following Luton.
Meanwhile, Leeds were deducted 15 points at the start of the season following a breach of the Football League's insolvency rules.
