Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn has said he is "extremely disappointed" that HM Revenues and Customs have not withdrawn a winding-up petition set for March 12th.
According to Mr Mostyn, the petition was issued "without consultation or negotiation over a reduced settlement".
The club is thought to be around £4 million in debt and a further notice of intent to appoint an administrator was lodged and accepted by the High Court earlier this week.
However, BBC Solent has reported that discussions are ongoing which could resolve the club's future before the looming deadline has passed.
As a result of this, Mr Mostyn believes the petition is unnecessary.
"I would once again like to assure all supporters that I am working non-stop to bring my negotiations with both investors and individuals interested in purchasing the club to a satisfactory conclusion," Mr Mostyn said.
"In the circumstances, HMRC will be asked to withdraw their petition."
