Firm helps more disabled supporters attend Africa Cup of Nations

As part of an effort to increase the accessibility of the African Cup of Nations, telecommunications firm MTN has presented hundreds of match tickets to the Association of Sports for the disabled and the Ghana Society for the physically disabled.

As well as the 120 match tickets given to the two groups, 360 tickets have also been afforded to people from underprivileged backgrounds following a collaboration with local radio stations in Ghana's capital, Accra.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony - which was attended by Ghana's injured captain Stephen Appiah - MTN's corporate services executive Mawuena Dumor said that the company was "formally extending our passion for football to the underprivileged and we invite them to join in celebration African football", according to the Ghanaian Chronicle.

The initiative forms part of MTN's corporate responsibility programme.

The programme has two main aims - namely the improvement of health and education - while Miss Dumor also reaffirmed MTN's commitment to the development of football in Accra.
